The Government Springs was a watering hole for the Chisholm Trail is located in Enid Oklahoma. It was a primary watering hole for the American West Cattle drives. Since the beginning of the Great Cattle drives in 1868 with John Chisholm heading his cattle to market.
John Chisholm was the pioneer in this great historical trail, he was the first to need water along the way. As he found each place to stop and rest his cattle, he would make his mark on American History forever.
Today The Government Springs Watering Hole is a very nice Enid Community Park called Government Springs. It still holds it's name but the cattle are long gone. They are replaced with ducks and flowers.
This park offers a very nice relaxing day for you and your family when you are visiting Enid, Oklahoma. You should really check out this historical place and think if it was not for John Chisholm and the cowboys of old our great country might not be quite the same as it is today.
