Fairfield is a small town in the south of Pennsylvania. It is a short distance to the west of Gettysburg. General Lee and his Confederate soldiers came through and stayed the night in this area as they were retreating from the Gettysburg battle. The town was used by the Confederates to care for their wounded and General Lee is said to have dined in the tavern here. |
