Christiana Lindsey had this historic Italianate house built in 1881. She was very particular in the design and craftsmanship that went into the building of her home. This is perhaps why the house has a "feminine" feel to it.

Christiana was a very artistic minded person and it comes out in all the special touches throughout the home. Most of the home still contains the original materials including the incredible woodwork and fireplace mantels. The fireplace mantel in the front parlor is made from very rare flame birch. The fret work is of imported olive wood and is very unique and artistic. There is original etched glass in some of the doors. With all the rare and expensive woods that Christiana had used throughout the house, she had the doors made from cheap poplar. She then hired an artist to come live in the house for several months and 'hand grain' the doors. The result is beautiful and elegant.

Christiana and her family lived in the house until they passed away. Your hostess, Kathryn 'Kip' Brookover and her daughter Amber, are the second owners of the home. Kip purchased it in 1981 and they have been diligently working on the restoration of the house since. The only furnishing to come with the house is an 1863 Steinway Victorian Square Grand Piano and the stool that was with it. Kip has carefully searched for the furnishings to showcase the grand designs of the house.

The guest room it the Master Bedroom. The spacious room is elegant, yet comfortable. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub for two and a large steam shower. Guests are welcome to feel at home and can use the front parlor, living room, formal dining room, and even the kitchen. There are three porches and a lovely yard with gardens. Your stay also includes a full country breakfast.

The Christiana Lindsey House is truly a gem in this charming small town.
