For more than a century, this antebellum home of Frank and Donna Clemson has been welcoming guests. Among them, tradition has it, were Underground Railroad refugees. Built in 1860 by a Philadelphia jeweler, who sold it to go off to the Civil War after the death of his wife, the property was later acquired by S.T. Shugert, a Pennsylvania legislator and newspaper editor. The house began as a simple four-square, symmetrical Georgian style but was aggrandized with bay windows and a kitchen wing in 1892 at the height of a fussier Victorian era.

The Clemson's have a suite and two bedrooms to offer their guests. The two bedrooms are on the second floor. The Angel Room has a queen size canopy bed and is decorated with pretty pink and green accents. The Doll Room has a queen size sleigh bed and is decorated in reds and darker colors. Both are wonderfully furnished for comfort and elegance. These two rooms share a nice bathroom and The Garden Room for breakfast and lounging. The Garden Room is stocked with the guests preferences for breakfast and has a refrigerator and microwave for guests to use.

On the third floor is The Garret. This suite has two bedrooms, one with two twin beds and the other with a queen bed. A nice comfortable living room has a TV with DVD and VCR. It has an old world style bathroom. The full kitchen/dining room is decorated in a 1950's style and comes stocked with the guests preferences for breakfast. The kitchen is equipped with a stove and oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and toaster. Guests are welcome to cook their meals if they do not choose to visit the area restaurants.

Guests are welcome to enjoy the large backyard that has a lovely brick patio. They can also relax on the porch that wraps around the front and side of the home. Your hosts have created a wonderful relaxing environment for your stay in this beautiful Victorian home.
