4 ounces medium noodles
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
1 16 ounce can tomatoes
1/4 teaspoon garlic seasoning
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 cups cooked or canned red beans


Cook noodles in boiling salted water until tender, then drain and rinse. Cook onion in 1 tablespoon oil until transparent, then add beef and cook and stir until meat has lost its color. Add salt, tomatoes and other seasonings, cover and simmer gently about 1 hour, or until the meat is tender, stirring occasionally. Add cooked noodles and beans, adjust seasoning, if necessary, and simmer for 15 minutes to blend flavors.

Makes 5 to 6 servings
