2 pounds top beef sirloin, cubed
4 tablespoons butter
1-½ cup thinly sliced onions
1-¼ teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon pepper
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
4 cup seasoned mashed potatoes
2 cup thinly sliced apples
2 tablespoons bread crumbs


Brown beef in 2 tablespoons butter in skillet. Remove. Sauté onions in pan drippings until tender. Stir in salt, pepper and nutmeg. Alternate layers of potatoes, beef, apples and onions in greased 2 quart casserole, ending with potatoes. Sprinkle with bread crumbs. Dot with remaining butter. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
