1 pound chuck or round steak, cut in thin strips
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 cup water
1 cup green pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup celery, chopped
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups water
1 tomato cut in wedges
3 to 4 cups cooked rice


Brown beef in hot oil, add garlic and cook until garlic is yellow. Add soy sauce, salt, and 1/4 cup water; cover and cook for 45 minutes. Add all vegetables except tomatoes; cook for 10 minutes. Stir in cornstarch blended in 2 cups water. Add tomatoes and cook without stirring another 5 minutes.

Serve over rice.
