Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 cup molasses
2 level teaspoons soda
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/2 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 teaspoons ginger
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 cup hot (not boiling) water
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar, add beaten eggs, molasses, water. Add dry ingredients
which have been sifted together. Mix thoroughly and bake in moderate oven 350
degrees F., about 45 minutes. (see recipe for gingerbread under cakes)
