1 cups white corn meal
3 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soda
1 egg
2 tablespoons drippings, butter or margarine


Sift dry ingredients into a mixing bowl, add the buttermilk and egg and stir until the mixture is blended. Melt drippings or butter in a skillet or baking pan and pour into the batter. Blend, then pour batter into hot 8-inch pan and bake in a 475 degree F. oven about 20 minutes, or until done.
