1/2 pound sharp American cheddar cheese
Shred or cube cheese and melt in a double boiler. Heat soup with seasonings and gradually add to the cheese, stirring constantly. Add the egg and continue to heat and stir for 3 minutes. Adjust seasoning, if necessary, and serve at once on toast triangles or crackers.
Makes 4 to 5 servings
