1 cup milk, scalded
1 cup soft bread crumbs
1 cup shredded American cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
few grains red pepper
3 egg yolks
3 egg whites
1 tablespoon butter or margarine


Scald the milk and pour over the bread crumbs. Combine with cheese, butter and seasonings and heat over hot water until the cheese is melted. Remove from the heat and stir the mixture slowly into the beaten egg yolks beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry, and fold into the cheese mixture. Pour into a greased baking dish and set in a pan of hot water. Bake in a 325-degree F. oven until firm in the center, about 30 to 40 minutes.
