3/4 cups corn meal
2 tablespoons molasses
1 1/4 cups sifted flour
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups sweet milk (scant)
3 teaspoons baking powder
2 eggs


Mix corn meal, molasses, and salt. Beat eggs and add. Add milk and sifted dry ingredients. Add butter. Bake slowly on hot greased griddle. For thick cakes, use 1 to 1 1/3 cups milk.
