Best Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour (or 2 ¼ cups cake flour)
2 cups sugar
½ cup shortening
¾ cup water
¾ cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon baking powder
2 large eggs
4 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate (melted and cooled)
Directions:
Heat oven to 350°. Grease bottom and sides of rectangular pan, 13x9x2, with shortening, and lightly flour. Beat all ingredients with electric mixer about 4 minutes. Pour into pan. Bake 40 to 50 minutes. Let cool and enjoy with your favorite frosting.
