3 tablespoons flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
4 egg yolks
2 cups milk, scald
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla


Blend dry ingredients, stir in well beaten egg yolks and 1/2 cup hot milk. Stir into scalded milk, stir and cook until mixture thickens. Cool, add butter and vanilla. For thicker filling add 2 tablespoons more flour.
