2 cups sifted flour
Sift flour once, measure and resift twice with the baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut shortening into the flour with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine egg and milk, add to the batter and mix only until a soft dough is formed. Spread in a greased 8 inch square pan.
Melt butter, add sugar, cinnamon and cream and blend well. Arrange overlapping apple slices on the dough and spread with sugar mixture. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 45 to 50 minutes, or until done. Serve slightly warm.
