1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
8 egg yolks
2/3 cup water
1/3 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 sifted cake flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon vanilla


Cream butter thoroughly with wooden spoon. Slowly beat in sugar. Add well beaten egg yolks. Beat well. Add vanilla. Add dry ingredients sifted together 3 times alternately with water. Blend well. Bake in greased floured cake tin 1 hour in a 325 degree F. oven. Use boiled white frosting.
