1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 cup sweet milk
6 beaten egg whites
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon extract


Cream butter, beat in sugar, add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in 375 degree F. oven about 25 minutes. Use filling for lady Baltimore cake. Cover with boiled frosting.
