3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 cup cocoa
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
2 teaspoons Baking soda
2 teaspoons Salt
1 teaspoon Vanilla


Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. Combine remaining ingredients. Mix well. Add flour mixture. Mix well. Add 1 cup boiling water, mix. Pour into 2 greased and floured round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Let cool a few minutes. Remove from pans. Cool. Frost.
