1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
Mix all ingredients, except vanilla and nuts, in a saucepan. Place over low heat and bring slowly to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil hard 1 minute, then remove from the heat and beat until thick enough to spread. If mixture is too thick, add a teaspoon or two of cream and blend thoroughly. Spread on cake and sprinkle with nuts. This is enough frosting for 1 loaf cake. Double the recipe for a layer cake.
