1/2 cup butter or other shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2/3 cup stewed prunes put through sieve
2/3 cup sour milk
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon vanilla


Blend shortening with sugar and eggs. Add prunes and stir in the milk. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add vanilla and bake in 2 8-inch layer tins in a 375 degree F. oven 25 minutes. Use seven minute frosting.
