1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup strong coffee
8 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon butter
1/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brown, 1/2 cup light
1/2 cup cold coffee
2 eggs beaten light
pinch salt
1 1/2 cups pastry flour
1 level teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla


Cook like custard. Cool, add flavoring, add to second part. Prepare second part as for any cake batter. Sift flour and together, bake in layers, loaf or sheet. Use uncooked frosting.
