14 ounces or little less than pound of butter
3/4 pound of ground almonds (not blanched)
1/2 cup sugar
3 cups sifted flour
pinch salt
1 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract


Cream butter, slowly add sugar, mix well. Add almonds, work in flour, salt which have been mixed. Place on lightly floured board, roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut in finger lengths, bake in moderate about 20 minutes. Partly cool, roll in powdered sugar.
