1 cup margarine (softened)
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
teaspoon almond extract
2 cups floor
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
food coloring

Mix thoroughly margarine, sugar, egg, and flavorings. Blend in flour baking soda, and cream of tartar. Divide dough in half; separate one half into 4 sections and color with food coloring, making 4 different colors. Cover dough; chill 2 to 3 hours. Heat oven to 375. Roll plain half of dough to 1/8 inch thickness on lightly floured cloth covered board. Cut with cookie cutters.

Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Roll colored dough to 1/8 inch thick; cut out different shapes to fit on top of each plain cookie shape to look like stained glass. If you wish to hang cookies on Christmas tree, insert a small piece of paper drinking straw through top of each cookie before baking (do not use plastic).

Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until golden brown on edges.

Makes about 2 dozen cookies
