2 cups dry bread crumbs, no crust
1 quart milk, scald
1/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons butter
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla


Soak bread in milk. Cool. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into buttered baking dish. Bake about 1 hour in 325 degree F. oven. Use coarse grater for bread crumbs. Grated rind of 1 lemon may be added.
