1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar creamed together
1 cup grated carrots
1 cup grated potato
1 1/4 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon soda dissolved in hot water
little salt
1 cup cut raisins
1 cup chopped dates and figs
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla


Cream butter, beat in sugar. Blend all ingredients in the order given. Place into well buttered mold. Place oiled wax paper over pudding then lid. Steam 3 hours. Serve hot with ginger or foamy pudding sauce.
