1 quart bread crumbs
1 cup molasses
1 cup flour (sifted)
1 teaspoon soda dissolved in little hot water
1 cup raisins
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 heaping tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon flavoring


Blend all ingredients, pour into buttered mold, cover, steam 2 1/2 hours. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla sauce. 1 cup seeded raisins may be added, or 1 cup orange marmalade, or 1 cup chopped dates and 1 cup coconut.
