Plain Pastry

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups sifted pastry flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening, flake with pastry knife
1/4 cup or less ice water

Directions:

Sift dry ingredients, handle pastry dough lightly and chill before using. For flaky rich crust add 2 or 3 tablespoons more of butter. Roll thin on floured board. Always cover edge of pie tin well with pastry as dough will shrink.
