1 broiling chicken, cut up
2 tablespoons shortening
1 8-ounce can tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon onion seasoning
1/4 teaspoon garlic seasoning
1/2 cup water
1/2 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Brown chicken in shortening in a skillet for 15 to 20 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove to roasting pan or shallow covered baking dish. Simmer remaining ingredients gently for 5 minutes. Pour over chicken and bake in a 350-degree oven for 1 hour, basting frequently. If sauce becomes too thick, add a little water. For extra crispness, increase heat to 500 degrees or place under broiler for last few minutes.

Makes 4 to 5 servings
