Location of Magnolia Plantation Audubon Swamp Garden Magnolia Plantation and Gardens The Audubon Swamp Garden is 60 acres of blackwater swamp. The walkways spanning the swamp have been constructed with the utmost consideration for the privacy of the wildlife. Bird blinds line the boardwalk for discreet observation and photography. The Director of Ornithology for the Charleston Museum conducted four years of on-site observations and complied a list of 224 birds that he spotted here. Keep your eyes open for there is an abundance of wildlife to be seen. Alligators, turtles, and otters are just some of the animals you may see. Just as delightful to see are the plants, trees and flowers. There are many beautiful species to find. KAT'S VIEW The Audubon Swamp Garden was very interesting. There was a black snake that ran off when we stepped near it. It was so cool. It scared mom. The snake was really noisy slithering through the leaves. It made quite a clatter. The snake was big. Luckily we didn't see an alligator. There were lots of turtles though. I thought the place was very nice. |
