Location of Magnolia Plantation and Gardens Magnolia Plantation and Gardens A day at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is a delightful experience with something for the whole family. Magnolia is the oldest plantation on the Ashley River. It played important roles in colonial settlement, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War. Unlike other plantations, Magnolia has been owned by the same family since 1676. Today the plantation is home to Taylor Drayton Nelson, the eleventh generation of Drayton's. He also works as the director of the plantation and can often be seen out walking the gardens. While you are here you can enjoy the gardens that are the oldest major public Garden in America, tour the Plantation house, enjoy the petting zoo, and explore the wilds of the Audubon Swamp Garden. |
