Location of Middleton Place Plantation Middleton Place Plantation This 18th century plantation boasts of America's oldest landscaped gardens. There is also a house museum and plantation stable yards that house a variety displays showing plantation workings. The property was acquired in 1741 by Henry Middleton through marriage. Slaves created the 65 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. Does the house and gardens seem familiar? You probably saw them in the movie "The Patriot", where Middleton Place was used as the headquarters for Cornwallis. |
