The Charleston Museum is America's first museum, founded in 1773. There are items from many time periods on display. See the skeleton of a 28-million-year-old whale. The museum has many natural history collections. The Loeblein Gallery of Charleston Silver presents silver from the workshops of Charleston's celebrated 18th and 19th century silversmiths. There are many beautiful pieces. See the ancient Egyptian artifacts. Many of these were purchased by the museum in the 1800's. See the African American displays showing living conditions and also the craftsmanship of slaves. Also view the Revolutionary War and Civil War exhibits.

This is truly and all-encompassing museum.

KAT'S VIEW

The Charleston Museum was cool. They had whale bones and a mummy. They had a lot of weapons and silver. There were tons of stuff in the museum. They had a treasure hunt paper where you could find several items. There was a silver pot on the sheet that was hard to find because there were tons of silver pot-like things in the silver room! I had fun looking for everything.
