Cabernet Franc ( cab'-er-ney-franc )
A full bodied, well-structured red varietal that is growing in popularity. Berry and herbal aromas and flavors are dominant.

Cabernet Sauvignon ( cab-er-ney-so-vin-yon )
Rich and complex, this is a classic accompaniment to steaks, roasts or heavily seasoned entrees.

Chardonnay ( Shar-doh-nay )
Rich and buttery Chardonnay's complement seafood, poultry and light meats.

Chenin Blanc ( Sheri-in-blahnc )
Creates a fruity wine with flavor of vanilla and pears. An outstanding sipping wine or anaccompaniment to hors d' oeuvres.

Gewurztramier ( geh-urz-trah-me-ner )
Semi-sweet, light spicy white wine. A favorite with Asian cooking.

Merlot ( mehr-low )
A red wine similar to Cabernet Sauvignon, but often softer and ready to drink. Merlot is a great accompaniment to sharp cheese with flavorful meats.

Lemberger ( lem'burger )
Makes a fruity red wine in either light or heavy styles. Some versions can be sipped with picnics, some stand up to rich sauces and red meats.

Pinot Noir ( pre-no-nwahr )
Elegant and silky red wine, famed for making the great burgundy of France. This grape makes a medium-bodied red wine with complex aromas of cherries and herbs.

Riesling ( rees-ling )
Called Johannesburg or White Riesling, this white wine is delicately sweet and has aromas and flavors of fresh melon.

Sauvignon Blanc ( so-nin-yon-blonc )
This white wine is crisp and light with shades of citrus. It is also the variety that is often called Fuem' Blanc when aged in oak.

Syrah ( Sir-rawh )
Red wine packed with racy aromas and flavors of black cherry, and black pepper.

White Riesling( reez ling )
Also called Johannesburg Riesling. Wines labeled "White Riesling" are often sweeter versions of those labeled "Johannesburg Riesling". They are dry or off dry. Delightfully fruity with and aroma of peaches or apricots.
