Location of the Alamo The Alamo The Alamo, located in downtown San Antonio, is Texas' most famous attraction and the site of one of the most famous battles in our Nation's history. It was at this site that 189 Texas Volunteers held off Santa Anna's Mexican Army for 13 days in 1836. Today, visitors can walk through the old mission where famous names like William Travis, Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie fought bravely before losing their lives along with all 186 of their fellow Volunteers. |
