Explore the replica of a 1780's farm. Most Virginians of the time lived on small farms less than 200 acres in size. During this time, slavery was widespread and most small planters like this had one to three slaves. The families, including the children, would be doing work around the farm. Most planters made their living growing tobacco to sell.

Families lived off their land, growing their vegetables and herbs. The raised their meat and also hunted and fished if they were near one of the many rivers or streams. The costumed interpreters will give demonstrations and answer your questions. This is of course, hands-on. So try many of the different activities to learn how life was for most of the people in the 1780's. Gardening was very important, so there are different activities depending on the time of year.
