Michie Tavern is a fun place to go to step back into the late 18th century. With the tavern, the ordinary, the clothier, the gift shop, and the general store there is plenty to do and see. Start your visit off with a tour of the tavern. Built in 1784, it served as the social center of its community and accommodated travelers with food, drink, and lodging. There are many activities that your tour guide may involve you and your group in.

After your tour enjoy a hearty midday fare in the Tavern's Ordinary. Serving up colonial fried chicken (locals say its the best around) and a variety of southern delicacies, you will not leave hungry. Your servers are all dressed in period attire. You can enjoy Virginia Wines and traditional lagers to compliment your meal.

After dining, explore the Clothier, which features period apparel, handmade quilts, and accessories. The shop is housed in an 1822 structure.

The General Store is just sown the path from the Clothier and is located in the Meadow Run Grist Mill. Two floors contain many Virginia made gifts and old fashioned items. There is also jewelry, pottery, and quality collectibles. Check out the vintage Christmas Shop section of the store, too.

KAT'S VIEW

In the kitchen there were some really strange things. There was an apple peeler that didn't look normal. The coffee roaster, I can't even begin to describe. The potato slicer looked like something you would use to torture people with. The cheese press was bizarre. I like it here. The things they used back then were strange. I think you would have easily hurt yourself if you weren't careful with them. There is said to be ghosts in this place. The tour lady had pictures that had been sent to her that people thought had a ghost.
