The Grey Horse Inn
Innkeepers John and Ellen Hearty have created a charming bed and breakfast in this quaint country village. Located in the heart of hunt country, there are many events happening just minutes away, including Great Meadows Events, the Virginia Gold Cup, and Friday Evening Polo. This is horse country and the inn reflects this.
The Inn was built in the 1880's as a travelers hotel and it continued to serve that purpose until the 1950's. It then became a private residence until becoming an inn again in the 1970's. The current owners have had it open for guests since 2001. They have six rooms their guests can choose from. The inn has a top of the line fire safety system and heating and air conditioning. They also have wireless internet and phone modem internet available. There are two sitting rooms guests can relax in and have a glass of wine, port, or sherry. Guests will enjoy the fresh baked cookies that are always at hand.
The rooms all have private baths. The Piedmont Room can be reserved by those traveling with mild mannered pets. The Garden Room is handicap accessible. All the rooms have a TV/VCR combo and video library except the Shenandoah Room. The Shenandoah is considered to be the most romantic room with a beautiful canopy bed and a private porch. The King George Room is one of the most popular choices with a large bathroom that has a two person Jacuzzi tub. On the top floor all by itself is the two room suite with a sitting room that has a gorgeous view of the gardens, a wet bar and fridge, and a queen size sleigh bed.
There are many activities in the area and your hosts can help with wine tours, hot air ballooning, and horseback riding. There are also the many horse events and competitions around the area. They can host small weddings and gatherings or business meetings here as well.
Come to this quiet country retreat away from the hustle and bustle. Wake up to aromas of a delicious gourmet country breakfast awaiting you. Sip you coffee on the patio and plan your day's activities.
