Richmond was founded in 1607 by Captain Christopher Newport and Captain John Smith. It contains many historical places including Revolutionary War and Civil War sites. This is where Patrick Henry pleaded for freedom with his famous speech, "Give me liberty or give me death." It has been the home of many famous people including Edgar Allan Poe and Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson. Your visit here can be filled with history, culture, outdoor activities, and shopping. There are several Malls and lots of specialty shops to find just what you're looking for. Go white water rafting through the middle of town down the James River. You are sure to find something for everyone in the family to enjoy here. |
