The historical Edgewood Plantation Bed and Breakfast is
the original 1849 house. The current owners purchased the plantation house
in 1978 and have been renovating it since. They opened it for guests in
1982. All the rooms are original except the kitchen.
There are 8 rooms for rent. All rooms have a private
bath and are filled with beautiful antiques that have been collected mostly from
around Virginia. The beds are antique and impressive. Your
hostess can tell you about their style and uniqueness. The rooms are
decorated mostly in a Victorian style. There is a two bedroom suite as well.
It has two beds in each bedroom and there is a sitting room between them where
you can relax. This can be rented out to a family or friends vacationing
together. There is also a one bedroom suite with a small kitchen, dining
area, and sitting area. Of course all the rooms have a private bath.
Breakfast is served in the dining room. There is a
wide variety of items served for all tastes, whether you just want some fruit
and a cup of coffee or you like a big full breakfast with all the goodies.
There are beautiful spacious grounds for the guests to
enjoy. There are formal English gardens with a beautiful water fountain
and gazebo. There is another gazebo in the side yard as well as a swimming
pool.
If you are having a corporate function, there is the
"Summer Kitchen" that can be rented out for large functions. There is lots
of room in a colonial atmosphere. It is often rented out for Christmas
parties and especially for wedding receptions. Weddings can be held
outside on the beautiful grounds. There are several weddings held
throughout the year so you will want to get your reservation set early.
Set between Richmond and Colonial Williamsburg, you can enjoy a historically rich
vacation. You are right in the middle of the James River Plantations as well.
