Join John and Cathy Millar at Newport House just outside
of the Williamsburg historic area. The house was built in 1988, a replica of a
1756 design by architect Peter Harrison that was located in Rhode Island.
Harrison was perhaps the most famous architect from the British colonies of that time period.
Newport House has two guest suites, each with a queen and
a twin 4-poster canopy bed. Each suite can accommodate three people.
Children of any age are welcome. The rooms are luxurious and spacious.
The house is furnished in the period from 1750 with
English and American antiques and reproductions. Even the blankets and
carpets are historically authentic. This is the most historically authentic bed
and breakfast in the area. You can immerse yourself in the history of
Virginia here. John is a former museum director and can tell you much
about the historical places in the area. Your hosts can help you plan your
historic tours of the area and tell you the best place to visit.
Breakfast is served between 8 and 9 in the morning. A full
breakfast is served in the formal dining room that includes dishes made from
authentic colonial recipes. They also serve fruit from the garden and
honey produced from their bee hive.
The Newport House also has a beautiful ballroom and hosts
Colonial Dancing every Tuesday. Guests are welcome to watch or join in.
Have fun learning the steps that have been danced since the 1400's.
You will enjoy a wonderful historic vacation at Newport House.
