Starting on the western side you have the Olympic Rainforest providing lush green vegetation and many coastal communities along the Pacific Ocean. Seattle is located along Puget Sound and has a very temperate climate. Rising up to the east of Seattle is the Cascade Mountain Range which divides the state and offers the beautiful Mount Rainier with the most defined glacial system of the continental U.S. and Mount St. Helens, known for is volcanic eruptions of the 1980's. Central and Eastern Washington is considered a desert because of its low amount of precipitation. This side of the state has mostly farming communities.
