Named one of America's Great Main Streets by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, downtown Walla Walla is a favorite destination with its many shops, cafe's, art galleries, historic tours, outdoor concerts and tasting rooms. The original Fort Walla Walla, a major stopping point for migrants moving West, has been preserved with many of the original buildings. The current Fort Walla Walla contains these buildings, albeit in a different location from the original, as well as a museum about the early settlers' lives.
