Location of Millennium Arts Plaza Millennium Arts Plaza The Millennium Arts Plaza is a place where visitors and residents alike can reflect on the past, present, and future of the Yakima Valley. It was commissioned in 1999 as a site for participation in the nationwide "Artists and Communities: Americans Create for the Millennium" project. Renowned artist Wen-ti Tsen designed the 80 foot by 80 foot sculpture. Each piece of the plaza has a unique meaning for the valley. Water themes run throughout plaza. Objects and tools are cast in bronze. Handprints represent the cultural diversity of the valley. Works that were written by authors aged 11 to 90 years old echo history and dream of the future for Yakima. Pictures of Millennium Arts Plaza were taken by Darryl Franklin |
