Location of Oak Creek Feeding Station Oak Creek Feeding Station In 1945 the government started a winter feeding program for the elk in the Oak Creek area. It has been a favorite winter attraction since. More than 100,000 visitors come to view the elk each year. There is a large parking lot, covered viewing area, and rest rooms. There is also an interpretive center that is open 9 am to 4 pm most weekends. The center has a slide show, kid's corner, and volunteers are there to answer questions. Approximately 2,000 elk are fed daily. In severe winter weather there can be as many as 5,000 elk present. Pictures of Oak Creek Feeding Station were taken by Darryl Franklin |
