Anacortes is a charming port city on the North end of Fidalgo Island. As a working deepwater port, it serves as the gateway to the San Juan Islands and Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Ferry service connects Anacortes with 4 of the San Juan Islands as well as Sidney, B.C. near Victoria. With a good selection of accommodations, restaurants and shops, the town is a perfect place to use as a base for day trips into the islands. In town, you will find a variety of ways to spend your time. Several city parks offer everything from camping, fishing and swimming to sandy beaches and a scenic vista overlooking the town. You'll also find fishing and whale watching charters, kayaking, sailing, biking and rock climbing. |
