Forks is located on the Olympic Peninsula between the Olympic Mountains and the Pacific Beaches. With a population barely over 3,000, this small town is the largest city on Highway 101 between Port Angeles and Aberdeen. The town was named after its location near the forks of the Quilleute River, Bogachiel River, Calawah River and the Sol Duc River. There are many recreational and scenic opportunities in this area. There are numerous campgrounds, hiking trails, fishing and hunting to be enjoyed. Winter rainfall can be well over 100 inches here, however the summers are warm and sunny. |
