Yakima sits in a valley just east of the Cascade Mountain Range. Although it is considered a desert, due to irrigation it flourishes with an abundance of agriculture throughout the valley. It is known all over the world for growing the best apples and cherries. It is also one of the world's largest growers of asparagus. This is a very nice place to raise a family but don't look for the big city nightlife here. There are great places to hunt and fish all around the area. Many visitors come to this valley to tour the world-class wineries and many come for the fruits and vegetables that can be bought at roadside fruit stands throughout the area.
