Location of Naches River Naches River The Naches River begins way up in the Cascade Mountains and flows into the Yakima River between Selah and Yakima. Lower portions of the River have been noted for a small Steelhead run in October, February and March, but fishing for them is not allowed. The River is open for Whitefish from December 1 to March 31. From January through March, Whitefish angling is excellent. Fishing for Trout and other species opens on June 1st and runs through October 31st. Selective gear rules apply during this season, which means you are limited to flyfishing and artificial lures. All hooks must be barbless. There is a 2 fish limit on trout with a minimum size of 12". Trout 20" or longer must be released. The upper reaches of the river (above Rattlesnake Creek) is stocked with good sized Rainbow Trout in June and July. This is the best time to fish the river for trout. |
