For many generations Mels Diner has been part of the Yakima Valley. This is more then just a restaurant. It has something special that you should check out when you are in Yakima. The original gas pumps from the Zillah Teapot Dome stand here like a beacon of history.
The restaurant has been remodeled to give you the feel of an old fashioned diner. This will bring back wonderful memories of yester year, for most of us that spent many meals in one of our great Ameican diners. Mels Diner is filled with images of Americana and will add to your enjoyment of the meal.
Mels Diner is very well known in the Yakima Valley for the great selection of food. We recommend you have yourself a Steak Tip and Eggs or treat yourself to pancakes. They are truly the talk of the town. Mels Diner is closed only two days of the year, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The rest of the year they are open 24 hours a day. So if you are craving a great meal anytime day or night stop by Mels Diner and have a nice steak or their famous breakfast.
Fred gives a great deal to the homeless shelters to help the people in need. Each year he gives around 500 turkeys to feed the Yakima Valley residents. Fred is very well known for his pancakes and the people that come here proclaim they are the best pancakes in the entire Yakima Valley. In fact he has many Community Events using his service to feed the people that visit them. You can check them out at the Selah Community Days Pancake Feed and the March of Dimes Walk America, Old Time Tractor Pull, and the Hop Festival.
Other Yakima events that Mels Diner helps to sponsor are Sunfair Parade, Youth Baseball, and the Hot Shots 3 on 3 Tourney. As if that is not enough Fred also works with the Pet Rescue to help our four legged friends when they are in need.
