Grand Coulee Dam
PO Box 620
Grand Coulee, Washington 99133
Voice: 509-633-9265

The Grand Coulee Dam was constructed because there was a tremendous need for power during the beginning of the work they were doing to build the atomic bomb at Hanford. They discovered that this was a perfect place to build a dam that wouldn't raise eyebrows. When the dam was finished they were able to power the cities along the way and give the workers at Hanford what they needed to build the worlds first nuclear bombs.

Today Grand Coulee Dam powers a great deal of energy to light up homes all over the Northwest. Each 4th of July they put on a laser show on the side of the dam with the aid of water it is a show to remember. One small warning to all that attended this show. Because there is only a small two lane bridge leading to the city you will get stuck for a couple hours. Plan on sitting back and waiting for awhile because your not going to get out of town for awhile.
